Tilly has done it again! Dungaree fans will be excited to learn that Tilly & The Buttons have just launched a brand new sewing pattern: the Mila Dungarees.

Introducing Mila…

Following on from the success of the popular Cleo Pinafore Dress, Mila continues to build on the dungaree trend. These dungarees are designed to be slim fitting on the hips and leg for a flattering silhouette. They feature stylish side button openings, and optional pockets for stashing your essentials on the front bib and booty.

This pattern will take you step-by-step through making dungarees with super-easy instructions and colour photos of each step. The pattern pieces themselves are clearly labelled so you can see which seam is which and how they go together.

The Mila Dungarees are suitable for confident beginners. The buckles may look fiddly, but they’re really easy to attach! There are a couple of trickier parts – firstly, the topstitching – but you can totally do that in a matching thread if you want to hide any dodgy stitching! If you are more confident, why not choose a contrast thread for the topstitching. Secondly – fitting the trousers – which is actually relatively simple thanks to stretch fabric.

If you need a few extra tips on sizing and fitting – there is an awesome guide available over on the Tilly & The Buttons Blog.

What You Will Need…

As you can see – Mila looks absolutely stunning in both a plain fabric, and a print. So what kind of fabric will you be needing for Mila?

The Mila Dungarees Sewing Pattern is designed for woven fabrics with stretch – essential for creating the modern fitted look on the legs, plus stretch fabric makes trousers a bit easier to fit – hooray! Look for stretch denim, stretch needlecord or stretch woven cotton with at least 2% lycra or spandex.

Need buckles? We have a stash of them in our online shop, so stock up when you order your pattern. The no-sew buttons are easy to press on with your fingers, no hammer required!

Find out how much fabric and other supplies you’ll need on the product page.
